Bursarys
Each year the college will make available a full bursary, covering the cost of the tuition, kit, and exam to one student from each of the hairstyling and esthetics programs.
Bursary funding
The annual value of the bursary program will be a minimum of $8,200 for each esthetics student and $7,500 for each hairstyling student. The tuition will be an in-kind contribution from the agency to the program. There is no provision under this bursary to cover any additional costs associated with attending the college including housing, food, transportation or childcare.
Eligibility
The bursary program is open to all young people, over the age of 17, residing in Saskatchewan. The target group is young people who otherwise would not have access to post secondary training. Due to the Department of Learning standard, candidates must have also completed Grade II or have obtained a GED.
Please submit three references with the application package. These letters should address issues of ability to complete the program and financial need. Examples of possible references include: former teachers, social workers, elders, and school counsellors. Proof of support with regards to housing and other expenses is required.
Selection Process
Initially all applications will be screened by the college principal for completeness and eligibility. Applications that meet all requirements will be referred to a selection committee consisting of the college principal and instructors. Selected candidates will be chosen based on a criterion of need and ability to complete the program.
Following the interview process a ranking of the applicants will occur and the bursary will be offered to the top candidate. Should, for any reason, the successful applicant not accept the award it will automatically be awarded to the next highest-ranking candidate.
All decisions of the selection committee are final and are not subject to appeal. Unsuccessful applicants are free to apply in subsequent years but the winner of a bursary is not eligible to apply again.
